Expand your backyard bash. There’s no better way to spend the Fourth than with your barbecue grill! As you head outside to grill and chill, make room for your dog to join in on the fun. Fill up a doggie pool for a sun-filled day of splashing and swimming. Make a comfy spot to relax in a patch of shade, the perfect spot for a quick doggie disco nap. While you’re grilling, prepare an extra bit of meat and/or veggies so that your pup can enjoy a freshly grilled feast, too.

Enjoy an adventure. The idyllic surroundings of woods, hills, prairies or beaches can be the perfect antidote to a noisy holiday. Grab leashes, water and plenty of snacks and head off the grid for a picturesque day with your favorite furry friend.

Plan a patriotic parade. Dress your dog in red, white, and blue and stroll through your neighborhood! Better yet, round up a few neighbors and their pups and make it a parade. Keep an eye on the weather — if it’s hot, schedule your parade in the morning hours to protect your pup’s paws from the sun-baked pavement.
